Dinesh Bojja, YURA Co-Chair

Dinesh Bojja (he/him) is a senior majoring in Applied Math and Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry on the combined BS/MPH track in Biostatistics. He is from Dublin, Ohio. As co-chair of YURA, Dinesh hopes to foster a welcoming and inspiring research community for all undergraduates. Outside of YURA, Dinesh sings for Yale Avaaz, volunteers in Pediatric Cardiology at Yale New Haven Hospital, and spars with the Yale Taekwondo Team.

Sophie Nguyen, YUMI President

Sophie Nguyen (she/her) is a sophomore majoring in MCDB from Westminster, California. As President of YUMI, she hopes to foster strong relations between Yale undergrads and graduate students, encouraging mentorship and community. Outside of YUMI, she enjoys doing cancer research and works in the AACC as apart of the Wellness and Mental Health team!

Rishit Shaquib, YURC President

Rishit Shaquib (he/him) is a sophomore majoring in Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology on the Pre-Med Track from Ocala, Florida. As President of the Yale Undergraduate Research Conference he hopes to cultivate a wide-reaching community of researchers across disciplines and institutions. In his free time Rishit loves to play tennis and jazz piano, and works at the Yale Undergraduate Admissions Office and the Yale Cancer Center.

Anya Gurudatt, YREC Chair

Anya Gurudatt (she/her) is a sophomore majoring in MCDB from the Bay Area, CA. As President of YREC, she hopes to get more Yalies into the research scene, expand awareness of opportunities, and increase turnout at networking events. In her free time, she loves to eat spicy food, play piano with the undergraduate piano collective, and practice calligraphy.

Alistair Lam, YURJ Co-Editor-in-Chief

Alistair Lam (he/him) is a junior majoring in Cognitive Science from Hong Kong. As a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Undergraduate Research Journal, Alistair oversees all aspects of the journal, including the editorial process, final publication/distribution, student outreach, and community engagement initiatives. In working with the YURJ team, he hopes to bring original scholarship by undergraduates to a wider audience and inspire new research ideas. Outside of YURJ, Alistair conducts genetics research in the Cooley Lab at the Yale School of Medicine, sings in the Yale Glee Club, and writes poetry.

Andrew Beingessner, YURJ Co-Editor-in-Chief

Andrew is a senior from Calgary, Canada, studying Ethics, Politics, & Economics. As co-editor-in-chief of YURJ, he aims to showcase methodologically rigorous and impactful research across disciplines. Andrew’s personal research practice centres on quantitative and experimental approaches to political economy and applied microeconomics. He has worked as a research assistant at Yale and other institutions and previously served as the managing editor of the Social Sciences desk at YURJ. Beyond research, Andrew enjoys skiing, discovering new places, and generally following his curiosity wherever it leads.

Mandy Chen, y/labs YURA Lead

Mandy Chen (she/her) is a sophomore majoring in Computing and the Arts from Staten Island, New York. As Project Lead of Y/Labs, she’s excited to help launch and oversee a one-stop, accesible, and user-friendly database for all your research needs. Keep an eye out for kickoff events! In her free time, she’s either dancing with Yale Movement or spending too much money on vanilla lattes and cat cafes. She currently leads Yale’s Design for America and is passionate about all things tech, engineering, and art.
